New Agent Checklist

We recommend having a computer with the following minimum specifications:
    • Windows 11
    • At least 8GB of RAM
    • A ninth or 10th generation Intel i5 or i7 processor
    • 2 monitors

You will need a phone line that is dedicated to work. Get a service that enables texting.  We recommend Ring Central or Nextiva.

Start with an overall goal of how much money you need to make in a year and break it down into daily quantities of calls, quotes and sales.

Consult with an Orr & Associates BDD to put together a plan for acquiring or generating sales leads and learn the carriers and MGA appetites for where you plan on writing this business.

Get the appropriate licenses for all lines of business and states outlined in your marketing plan. In addition to getting your individual license, you must be endorsed on the Orr & Associates agency license before you can conduct business on our behalf.

A CRM helps you organize your daily tasks and goals, keep notes on clients and track their progress as you move them forward through the sales process.  There are many CRM options out there to choose from.  We recommend Hubspot.

Once you have a license and signed contract, we recommend getting all your carrier logins as soon as possible. Our staff can help you get this done. Most carriers will set you up right away, but some take several weeks.

While you will have lots of training to complete in your first year and thereafter, you will need to learn a few basic before beginning work. These trainings can all be completed within 1-2 hours on your first day. They include:

  • Quoting Best Practices
  • Proposals
  • How To Collect Payments
  • Bind Submissions

Get loss runs fast and put yourself one step ahead of your competition. This is not mandatory but highly recommended.
